The best putter under 150 bucks is the Cleveland Golf HB Soft.
Here’s why.
Speed Optimized Face Technology (Soft)
Cleveland’s Speed Optimized Face Technology, or SOFT, is a standard feature of the Huntington Beach putter line produced by Cleveland Golf.
The unique milling pattern (optimized for all six putter models) ensures that roll distance on both center hits and those closer to the heel and toe is roughly the same.
Precision Milled Face
The putters come with a deep milled, diamond pattern on the face of the putter that increases friction, resulting in a softer feel at impact, and a more pure roll toward the hole.
Softer Feel
The soft 304 Stainless Steel ensures soft yet crisp feel, providing just the right balance of softness and feedback.
Specifications of the best putter under 150 bucks
Each model of the Cleveland Huntington Beach line of putters comes with a 3 degree loft and 70 degree lie angle. They are all also available in lengths of 33, 34, and 35 inches.
Depending on the head shape, the head weight ranges from 345 to 370 grams.
You can order your putter with a standard size grip offered by Cleveland Golf, or an oversized grip. Both are pretty comfortable and contribute to the overall soft feel of the putter.
Most of the designs are face balanced, while Model 3 has a strong toe hang and Model 4 has a moderate toe hang.
(To determine toe hang, balance a putter on your finger. When the putter is horizontal to the ground, look at the club face. A face balanced putter will have the face pointing upward, while a putter with a strong toe hang will have the toe pointed toward the ground.)
You can see the specs for each putter in the table below.
Price
As I mentioned, the price of this putter is under $150. You can click on the image below to get the price at Amazon, or head over to Fairway Golf USA, my favorite online golf store.
There are certainly cheaper putters on the market. But, when many of the putters used by tour pros will cost you $250 and up, this is a pretty good bargain.
Cleveland Golf has always been a quality golf club manufacturer, particularly with its line of wedges.
Therefore, you can feel pretty confident that you are getting a solid, well made putter.
Final Thoughts
If you are in the market for a new putter, and don’t want to break the bank, you can’t go wrong with the Cleveland Golf HB Soft line of putters.
In my view, this is the best putter under 150 bucks on the market today.
